VB36 Master Bowlturner Lathe
Thank you for your comments.
This log was not cut square, that is why it looks as if it was dancing.
The video shows that even with a piece of heavy unbalanced wood, the lathe does not move nor vibrates.
Of course, the log is firmly bolted with 4 in long screws, to a solid 0.39 in steel tray.
The visor I wear does not protect me from a possible ejection of the piece of wood, but from receiving shavings in the eyes.
I advise against using this technic on a lathe of lesser capacity.

  • looks really off center for the pont it has been roughed down to.. toooo wobbily

  • @robblac

The roughing down has just bigun at that state

  • @robblac

    It didn't ;)

  • Looks like he lost control of it though, with it becoming uneven. I can see it beind quite hard to master at that size.

  • Hello tekinak007, no problem at all with that size or even much bigger! The log was not symmetrical but the plate finished nice and round.

  • thats a big lathe!!! How long did it take to turn that piece down to the finished product?

  • Nice toys you have to play with! I would buy one if it were not for poverty and my wife.

  • The machine is manufactured in the UK, but the company is German. They are said to make one of the best scroll saws on the market.

  • @robblac It's actually centered fairly well, it's not wobbling in the axis of rotation, it's wobbling due to the turning not being parallel to the mounting face. Mot much of a big deal, only a few pounds of uneven weight.

  • Neat project.

  • You didn't really make anything so it was pretty boring. Next time make an ash tray or a bowl or something so people like me don't think you are retarded.

  • Somebody is planning to have one big bowl of CornFlakes for Breakfast! Cool viddeo!
