The death of Thomas D., (Tad) Lincoln on July 15, 1871 at the age of 18, was very traumatic for Mary as she had witnessed the assassination and death of her husband Abraham Lincoln six years earlier. And besides that, Tad had shown promise, and historians note that he even fancied a girl while in Chicago. I'm in the midst of writing a fictional account of his later life and marriage. Its entitled "Tad and Sara." RIP Tad. We miss you.
