Who was the historical Jesus?
In search of the hidden truth behind the New Testament.
Most of the text is translated into English from the (Dutch) book cover.

Besides cinema, Hollands greatest film director Paul Verhoeven (1938) has another lifelong fascination: Jesus of Nazareth.
After he left Holland in 1985 he applied for membership of the Jesus Seminar in California, a scientific thinktank of about seventy eminent professors of theology, filosophy, linguistics and bible history.
He was allowed to join the discussions that aimed at freeing the historical Jesus of the mythical, biblical Jesus, to strip him of two thousand years of christian colouring.
As a contribution to this research Paul Verhoeven - a mathematics an physics graduate - wrote many scientific papers that formed the basis for his present book.
Some of his proposed and argumented theses are:
* It is possible that Maria was raped by a Roman soldier during the jewish rebellion in Galilea of 4 BC, and that Jesus was the result of that.
* After Jesus was baptised by John, he started baptising on his own - to the great rage of John.
* The exorcisms were way more physical than the gospels suggest. Jesus screamed and spit the 'possessed' in ears, mouth or eyes.
* Jesus thought that his succesful exorcisms were proof that God's kingdom had appeared. He was wrong.
* During most of his preaching, Jesus was fleeing from the authorities. First Herod Antipas was after him, later the temple police and the Romans.
* Jesus advised his students to sell their cloacks and buy swords in stead. This is when Jesus transformed into a revolutionary.
* The authorities sentenced this 'political agitator' to death in absentia. Jesus was hiding in the desert at that time.
* Jesus was not betrayed by Judas Iscariot. We do not know the name of the traitor Judas was just an apostate who left the Jesus movement because he did not believe in the resurrection.
* If the grave of Jesus was empty, it was Mary from Magdala who robbed his body.
* The kingdom of God that Jesus expected in the short term, never arrived. That is why the christians have made the crucified and resurrected Jesus into that kingdom.

"The Gospel of Paul", well, that sounds exactly right. Jesus is the gospel of Paul (aka Saul of Tarsus, not Verhoeven :)

At least, that is what the 'dead sea scrolls' seem to reveal.... (Does Verhoeven even mention these?)

What do you mean with "Jesus is the gospel of Paul"? Yes he did study and mention the dead sea scrolls, as well as many (all?) other known sources. Your statement ("seem to reveal" is rather vague; can you be more specific?

It's okay to have theories and questions but this idiot Verhoeven should at least base them on some kind of new found evidence. This whole video was disappointing.

Mary M took the body? She must have been much stronger then thought, especially with the Roman guard (Min 4 soldiers) there. Jesus instructed them to get swords, yeah they got two swords, Peter chopped a guys ear off with one of them, Jesus healed the cut off ear, what a revolutionary, healing the enemy and all sorts of nice things. Jesus fleeing for His life and no one could catch Him because??? Because? Because he was too fast and lived in the dessert in ninja clothing, dessert camo maybe?

We do know Jesus was born in the spring or summer because the sheep were out at pasture. And some modern astronomers found a bright star or comet over Bethlehem around Jesus' birth year 5 BC - 10 BC (I forget) , but it was also in the spring/summer.

In fact the gospel is for Paul Verhoeven, and for all that listen to Jesus. Knowledge means nothing, if you don't have a heart for God.

Only God knows your heart, thats why you won't have to defend yourself for what you believe in. Where your heart is, is your kindgom.

If your kingdom is with God, you won't have a troubled heart because he will send a spirit that comforts and guides you to stay in the faith. Listen to Jesus, and God will bless you:)

i never claimed the vatican controls Israel!?!

I guess you read my post like you read information wrt the scrolls.

What i did claim is that the Vatican controlled (read denied) access to the hundreds of scrolls for many decades.

The scrolls encompass a period in which Jesus supposedly lived. That IS significant by any standard.

Ofcourse the scrolls are 'jewish' (had they been Aztec then they would be irrelevant to judaism/christianity.)

DSS are Jewish scrolls, there nothing Christian in them and do you seriusly claim that Jewish Israel is controled by Vatican?

i must use 'seem' as i am not certain.

That said, the DSS Are the oldest authentic early christian writings known, and encompass the 1st century AD. (the time of both Paul and 'Jesus', they have something to say on the matter)

(Hint: there 'could be' a reason why the vatican controlled research of the scrolls, denying access by others and delaying results for many decades.)

jesus ate alot of mushrooms with his disiples, the bread of life. little round thing that apeared after the morning dew.. if the were left unattended they would rot and worms would grow in it. unless it was dried over fire.
