@rumahale The story goes that when Shaktida was an assistant director (and made some extra money playing bit roles in films) Ashok Kumar would always recommend him for the part of an inspector. So when Shaktida planned his first film he decided to call it Inspector (as a tribute to the part which gave him so much solace in his struggling days). He also cast Ashok Kumar to play the lead (the Inspector) as a kind of "sweet revenge" for making him play the same part again and again.

Thanks for the interesting information on HK version - I have listened the audio but not aware of its inclusion in the movie or otherwise. Good gesture on the part of Ashok Kumar.

Hello Sir. Real nice melody by Hemant Kumar. I have his own version in a HK record but somehow, I didn't see it in the movie. Only this version of Lata was in the movie.
This was director Shakti Samanta's first film and Ashok Kumar worked in it for free since he supported his Bangla artists.
thanks for the beauty ! listening to it again !

A very good rendition by Lata ji,but still lags behind Hemat da.In tandem songs Lata ji could not outclass her male counterparts,be it Mukesh ji or Talat saab, who were no match to mighty Lata ji where singing prowess was concerned, though bitter but that was the truth.
