Hoop Dancer

Presented at the 2009 Ontario Provincial Police Tattoo in Oshawa Ontario, Canada, dancers of the award winning WHITE PINE DANCERS, http://www.ojibwaystoryteller.com, performed a variety of First Nations dances accompanied by drums and singing.

One of the most fancinating, seen here, the traditional Hoop Dance, a form of storytelling, is a physically daunting ballet of continuous motion as the dancer moves in, out and through the hoops.

Here, the dancer is usuing 11 hoops, but a dancer will perform with as many as 30 hoops at International Hoop Dance Championships and Pow-Wows.
