i always fish with the boilie close to the hook on chods and pop ups! the rig mechanics are far simpler and different to bottom and critically balanced baits. with pop up, you just need to get the hook in its mouth. the weight "shot or putty" used to hold the bait down enhances the rig mechanics too and keeps your hook at the correct position. if im using a pop up or chod then i will always use it a few feet away from the bottom free offerings. good video.

@sam58810976 what do you mean theres no special technique developed in ancient China thousands of years ago which was passed down by alien ancestors from a parallel universe on how to handle a fish

I see You're hook is very close to the bait, is that a must or? cause i have 2cm between (15mm pup-up) and hook bend.

@redbullstef2 I'm no pop-up specialist, I actually rarely use them, but still... if you watch my other videos (notably the long hair one), you will see that carp tend to take the bait with the top of their lips, so a 2cm hair... the hook would likely stay out of the carp's mouth in most cases... I believe a Korda video was showing exactly that.

Awesome videos! What was the difference between this rig and the rig in part one? Or was it just the pop up?

@micallef87 No difference. This was all recorded as part of the same session and using the same rig. The first video shows the (numerous) failures, the second video shows the (few) successes...

Nice vid so thanks. Just wondering how difficult it was to make the video? Did you hire the equipment or own it? Does the water clarity have a big impact on where you can film? I would love to do some match fishing vids but perhaps the water clarity in a commercial fishery would be too muddy? Any advice would be appreciated.

@andycarpcatcher I own the equipment. Yes, water clarity does matter, I have the best results near winter time, actually. Check my Web site (carpiopedia), the video section and you'll find various write-ups on my experience with underwater video making.
