Well I'm with you in spirit but Lowell had a huge recognition for his contribution to this growth off the New Orleans party band scene - really - he is as widely known as any dead rocker I can think of - and for singing, playing guitar as well. I guess it all depends on what informs your views.
Lowell George is a candidate for the most underrated/under-appreciated musician of all time...he had so much soul and raw power, and he rocked everything from the Latin percussion the the slide guitar...awesome stuff here
Me too! What most people don't understand is the classic Waiting for Columbus is partly the incredible Georgetown Lisner shows that were radio broadcast! I'm the happy owner of all of them. Lowell and Feat were from LA, but could not get arrested until they took it to the Bayou, Cellar Door and grabbed Bonnie Raitt on the way to the incredible DC/Baltimore music scene of the mid/late 70's. DC was home to the rabid fan base that they called home!
It's fitting Lowell's last show was in Georgetown that night. He went back to his hotel room somewhere on King St. Alexandria, VA and died quietly in his sleep of an overdose, his beloved "speedballs" as so many Feat songs allude to. I last saw him alive at the Baltimore Civic Center in 1978. What a show. Here in this video George was anything but fat. He looks healthy as a horse. What a performance this is. I have the entire show it's incredible!
correct...absolutely...best band ever ..(this is all the way from govan scotland...saw lowell (feats) here in 70s with warner brothers tour ..fell in love...still in love....great music..r u movie makers LISTENING...i have ticket money waiting for it.....
Little Feat's home was the Warner Theater in Washington DC. So if you were a Little Feat fan back in the 70's and lived in the DC area you had it made. Peace
Let's not carried away. I love Feat as much as much as anyone. But if you never saw ABB before Duane died you don't have a clue what they were about - the best live band ever.
