@davideerickson Which is why the fail was in capital letters :). I found a greasemonkey script for Firefox that appends &sout=1 to the url
and turns it off, but that's a hack and I would have preferred something native.

Sarcasm?

@inytay1 If Google can put a simple command line in their source code for me to permanently disable "SafeMode" then they could easily do the same for a default to "basic version" without me having to scroll to the bottom of the search page each time that I re-enter Google. If some people like the new format then that's their choice. But it's an easy fix for Google to allow an either/ or default and they don't seem to want to give easy user options on this one... and they will loose users.

OH_BOY... another bottomless pit blog format. And no permanent option for a default to the "basic version"... for those of us who don't want to waste time or RAM by scrolling all over the same page. The "page at a time" format is much faster and more user friendly for the brain to comprehend. This is just like the forced wallpaper that they threw at us several weeks ago... only they don't seem to be listening to anyone on this one. Google... the next AOL (A-O-HELL). Remember them??? AO-who???

if you dislike the new search page google allws you to switch i back you can either scroll to the bottom off ALL the pages and click swith to basic version or you could just put &sout=1 after the search adress at the vary top of your screen and click enter
FAIL
How can I turn this off? It's horrible.

@ih8grep Scroll all the way to the bottom of the image search results. At the very bottom there is a "Switch to basic version" link. Click on it.

@davideerickson Thanks Dave. I'd never scrolled all the way down there before. It doesn't set a cookie and remember though, I have to click it every time?

@ih8grep I didn't try it. Interesting. You'd think they'd let you set your preference.
