I've heard conflicting things about Robert Johnson. Some of it is very disturbing. I think his talent is god given. RIP

If the legend is true and Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil and the people knew this: they would not have buried him in a Churchyard cemetery.
His soul would have been damned for all eternity and they would not have buried a soul condemned to hell in the churchyard.

i am from the delta and just got back from there. visited all three locations. this is not the one where he is really buried. met the historian steven lavere in greenwood at his restaurant and had not yet gone to the real site. he had personally interviewed and researched the matter and discovered the true site is out grand avenue over the tallahatchie/yazoo river bridges at little zion in a bend in the road. went out there and tons of people were visiting. the vibe was very strong. this was it.

The place where Robert Johnson last played and was poisoned was moved (and sat on a trailer on a little turnout as it was quite small) but before it could be saved, the owner, without realizing its historic significance had it demolished.
Actually, the real gravesite is right outside of Greenwood on Money Road. The director of Robert Johnson's estate is a good friend of mine, and he has recently retracted his findings (after interviewing a living relative of Robert Johnson) concerning the other two sites. Nevertheless, all the alleged Johnson gravesites are historically significant; I hope you can visit the Money Road location in the future.

Thanks for the input. Is there any chance that someday they would attempt to disinter Robert and put an end to all the uncertainty? I had also heard that the place where he last played is still standing. Can you verify this also? Thanks again.

I'll ask. Steve LaVere is the director of the estate. I don't see him but once a month or so, but I'll pass on your questions.
