Singapore's confidence and trust in charities was rocked when it emerged that Mr. T.T. Durai, then CEO of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), one of Singapore's largest charities, had abused his position in running NKF as his personal empire rather than for the good of the charity. What's even more astounding is how the NKF board supported Mr. Durai's running of NKF, demonstrating a complete lack of corporate governance.
