It is done on purpose, I personally love the fact that it sounds so fun. I think it's like this because it shows the way it is behind a childs eyes. The child is not understanding what and why it's happening yet he knows it's bad and wants to stop it from hurting "mommy".

Great song, not many people realize the wounds inflicted on a child living in an abusive home . I became so numb to the beatings from an alcoholic father and a sick abusive stepmother, I eventually just stood there and took the beatings, then hide in my room hoping they would forget about me. And wonder why I was even alive.
