"The Cowboy Killers" was Iridescent Pictures' entry for the 48-Hour Film Project in Louisville, Kentucky (August 6-8, 2010). The film was required to be a dark comedy and include a photograph of a mother, the dialogue "What's that smell?", and a scientist named Michael Charles. "The Cowboy Killers" was directed by Zach Bales, it was written by Zach Bales, Kyle Curry, and Jon Large, and it was produced by Zach Bales, Kyle Curry, and Eric Whitson.

Created in the style of a 1950's public service announcement, "The Cowboy Killers" satirically depicts the "benefits" of smoking cigarettes and "colorfully" critiques life in that era.
