A photo collage of events in Chris McCandless' life mixed to an acoustic song I composed and dedicated to the ideals and values he embodied.

Although I've never met the man, I've been deeply touched by his spirit.

Mp3 of the acoustic composition I created available at: http://etienne.lebel.googlepages.com/EtienneLeBel-TributeToChrisMccandles.mp3

Upon popular request, I have tabbed the guitar part of the song I composed and made my tab available here:

  • i watched the film twice. and I adore him not just because of his bravery to follow his dream, free himself from the illusion of sick society, but also of his tender heart. look at the way he gave the only coin he had to the old man at the phone box, or when he refused to take sexual advantage on the girl who actually gave him chance to do that. God bless his soul.

  • He was brave and stupid.

  • Etienne, you wrote a beautiful song. Will you share more of your songs please.

  • Someone who led his life following his dream, a kind of dream lots of us only dream about.

I am just another one of those dreamers. Great respect for those brave enough to follow the nature of heart, like Alexander Supertramp.

  • happiness is only real when shared

  • in the movie its portrayed as if what he ate was his cause of death but it wasnt. the seeds or berries he ate came up to have no toxins after researchers tested it. he simply died of starvation, what a shame. I dont think he was stupid, he just had hope.

  • @omid8888 Yes he was stupid. Great ideas sometimes end with stupid...

  • Que barbaro estaba hecho mierda todo ermitaño montañes no es posible degradar tu persona a ese grado buena peli pero que tio mas egoista con su familia perdonar es amar

  • i respect him above all. Not only did he follow his dream, but as he knew he was dying he worried about other people. And said God bless everybody he knew. Not only that he had taken pictures of him smiling just days before his death, he was in massive amounts of pain. Incredibly inspiring. Incredibly brave.

  • @oeyesea is this quote yours?

  • the ultimate rebel, a taveller living amongst collectors, a walker amongst sitters & one who valued experiences more than the accumalation of things everybody is supposed to have or want. He was a misfit but he was a misfit by his own design.
