The left has actually done a poor job of framing the issue. In the short terms, we can't just stop c02 emissions, but that doesn't mean we can't invest in green R&D in order to be economically viable over the long term. The cost of not acting would be ecological and economic death. Just look at the fate of GM, Ford and Chrysler vs their Japanese competitors. They didn't act to make their cars more efficient and they went bankrupt. We have to be leaner and meaner in order to compete worldwide.
