A coworker of mine asked me to check out a shop she was referred to, because she was interested in getting a tattoo to commemorate her battle with breast cancer. Her design was the pink ribbon with butterfly wings, and she wanted it on her shoulder.
The shop she was referred to was Skinner Tattoo in Barrie, Ontario. Andrew Skinner was the shop's owner and artist, and had successfully moved his shop out of the downtown core to the South end, in an industrial area. At the new location Andrew's clientele would be limited to only the serious and upscale work. He has spent a lot time working with the Simcoe Ministry of Health to ensure that standards in health and safety remain a top priority.
In this installment of Distant Echo we watch Shelley and her friend Sandy as they get their tattoos and we hear from Andrew about his shop, his work with the health board and his opinions of the tattoo industry in Canada.
