Rorty is a bad philosophous

I would mark the beginning of pragmatism with Charles Sanders Peirce, or even William James.

If you read Corel West's book "Genealogy of Pragmatism," you will notice he begins with a reading of Emerson. You can locate bits of pragmatism in Blake, but Emerson did a lot to advance notions of the movement. Saying Pragmatism is "far from an American idea" is a bit misleading.

that´s a good point...
all this usa-asskissing looks a little naive (foxnews-like)and has nothing to do with the interview whatsoever.
...there are more intelligent ways to make allusions (suppose there was the case to) ,you are a philosophy teacher after all,wtf...

I like Rorty, but pragmatism was not originally Rorty's idea, and far from an american idea. Problably started with Pascal, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, and finally Dewey in America.
I enjoy listening to Rorty, but not the intermittent annoying musical intrusions.
