@kemmererkid The character is loosely based on Lesley Gore but she represents a lot of the young singer/actresses of that era i.e. Patty Duke, Sandra Dee, Shelley Fabares, Annette Funicello, etc. Lesley even wrote this song.

im convince Grace of my heart is the story of Carol King. She was a song writer for phil spectors wall of sound. She recorded a song that bombed badly and then came along and had a hit. Ive always thought it was carols story. altho i dont think this character was leslie gore. this girl was a movie star and leslie other than making cameos in movings never really made it big on the big screen.

It's Lesley Gore's story. When I saw the movie years ago, with Bridget Fonda doing this clip (with Lily's voiceover), I saw Bridget's flip hairdo... heard the lyrics... and said it's Lesley, my girl !!
