@JamesMitchell78 If the plaque and calculus aren't removed the gingival tissues and bone will continue to die. If a person wants to help control some of the inflammation they could make a paste out of water and baking soda, then pack it around the gingival tissue/teeth leave it there for a minute. Do this in the morning and at night. You should see a reduction in swelling and bleeding in 3 days, depending on the severity of the infection and the type of buildup on your teeth.
