@rollorhodes I know what your saying, but it's just that, a Steel, the maker may call it a "sharpener" and will help keep a nice edge on your blade but good luck fixing a dropped and wrecked blade with that, you say tomato I say tomato...well I guess that doesnt work when you're typing. lol

@chainlinkdreams Check out Lee Valley Tools or DMT or do a web search and you will find many diamond grit sharpening steels, and all sorts of diamond sharpeners in general. I think we might be getting in to semantics here though...

@rollorhodes sharpeners' do not have diamond in them, only honers, a shapener is only stone and never a "stick" shape like a honer, either a powered wheel, a hand held "V" style or just a wet stone, I know because I travel between three high end resaurants in Asheville NC, (one of which was featuerd in souther living magazine, called the Early Girl) training new employees on our process.

@chainlinkdreams It really is a sharpener because of the diamond grit embedded in the steel. You use it like a honing steel (which simply straightens the edge), but it removes metal from the blade like any other sharpener.
