Paddle Georgia is an annual week-long, 100 mile voyage down a different Georgia river during the last week of June. In this adventure, participants experience rivers as few can. Participants paddle through history, see beautiful undisturbed lands, and see the river harnessed for industry and municipal uses. Throughout the trip, participants join in educational activities such as water quality monitoring, sampling for critters, and evening programs. Each night, participants are shuttled to campsites at local schools and other facilities where educational programs, games, entertainment and meals are provided. We offer environmental education programs for Georgia teachers and scholarship programs that bring inner city youth on the journey. We average over 300 participants each year and usually sell out the trip in April or May.
Paddle Georgia has become Georgia's premiere long-distance paddling event in just four years and is one of the only trips of its kind in the Southeast. In the past 4 years, we've introduced more than 1200 individuals to Georgia's rivers and educated them on the importance of these rivers. Additionally we have generated more than $40,000 for river protection in Georgia.
