Well even though the characters are described differently in the book, isn't the show farther on? Like in the book, Aria has pink hair and they are about to go into 8th grade. On the show, they're in high school, and last week, Ali's brother is talking to Aria about how he liked her pink hair back in middle school. It's weird.
