In "The All You Can Eat Gardening Handbook" I suggest you try something new in your vegetable garden each season. This was my first attempt at growing and processing wheat, and a great learning experience. I'm sure I'll get better each year but this is how I did it this year.
I appreciate the value you place on being respobsible for our own food sources but would like to
see you have a better understanding of the ancient traditions, wheat songs and spiritual relevence this plant has carried..you might enjoy some sicilian grano festa videos or traditional harvesting vids...

@cpepe22 you just grind the berries down to a fine powder and you have flour ready for baking homemade bread... Its that simple!

I'm sure there is an easier way to separate the berries from the chafe. What if you banged it around like you do, but on the bottom you had a mesh with openings that weren't too much larger than the berries?
