Austin's heel turn didn't really work as planned, people still cheered and loved him. Just watch his new DVD, he even explained it himself.

No, that's not what we were talking about. He briefly turned heel before joining the Alliance and then turned face again before becoming a heel when he joined the Alliance. I stated he was living up to the "Perfect Heel" persona when he joined the Alliance, and that I didn't mind it like everyone else seemed to. His brief run with Vince after Wm17 was a totally different run.

@TheJosephPrice Regarding his brief facel turn; you are wrong in this regard. He turned heel twice. Austin turned heel WrestleMania X-Seven, siding with Mr. McMahon; then (briefly) turned face by "saving" Team WWF, only to turn heel again and join The Alliance :-)

My reason for actually trying to enjoy the show. I am not sure of the "Brief" face turn you are reffering to after the Invasion angle. He turned face after the Invasion angle ended and never turned heel again.
