Description: Mark Menestrina MD is the Medical Director of the Detoxification (Detox) Unit at Brighton Hospital in Michigan. In this brief video, Dr. Menestrina reviews Auricular Detoxification (Ear) Acupuncture from the cautious perspective of a traditional physician trained before the era when U.S. physicians were taught about the new alternative and integrative therapies, such as acupuncture and yoga.

Dr. Menestrina first questioned the use of acupuncture with addicted persons, but has come to see that it is of benefit to them, and has proven harmless in hundreds of cases treated at Brighton Hospital.

Brighton Hospital, through its Department of Integrative Therapies, is now a major US training site following the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) coursework and protocols. It offers a three day training course leading to certification in Auricular Acupuncture. Courses at Brighton are taught by Virginia June, LMSW, CAAC, RT, Director of Integrative Therapies.
