Downtown is north of The Cell, so they woulda been fine. The sun sets in the west.
The original plans called for a downtown view. Read about it at flyingsock---------dot--------

Dude I hate the cubs. They are Chicago's embarrassment. 101 years without a WS title. That's pathetic. No pennant since 1945. Also pathetic. All cub fans are losers

Don't quote me on this EddieNeverSleeps....but I'm fairly sure the reason the field doesn't face the downtown skyline is because of issues with the sun being in the batter's eye.

The tacky blue all around Comiskey sucked. Reinsdorf really dropped the ball when he was given so much cash by the Illinois taxpayers to build a new ballyard. What they should have done was build the park FACING DOWNTOWN. Can you imagine seeing the Sears Tower and all those historic buildings as you look out over the outfield wall? Ugh, they had such a chance to build a much better park, but they fucked it up.
Comiskey looks better now with all the renovations, but still, opportunity wasted

This is great footage, the very first Cubs/Sox series! Back when this occured, the games were played on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and they only played these 3 games that season. This appears to be from the final game of the series, which the White Sox won 3-0 to take the series 2 victories to 1.
