how does someone get into firing and driving restored steam locomotives like 2816 or 3751? How do you learn how to do it and who do you learn it from? I'd assume its volunteer, which I don't mind. I'd really be interested in it as a hobby when i get older.

I like the pull-cord whistle ten times better than the air-actuated one. Great video! Thanks for putting this up!

@SDNR199 Yes, I know Jon Morris personally..... If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. That's all I have to say about him.

Does this engine have 2 whistles like the 2860?

Where have they put 2816??? im shocked to know that the train isn's running anymore. any news about what is going to happen to her????
-
would love to learn how to run a train, amazing video !!!! :)

It's the reverser. Some eastern roads had something similar.
When I saw this video, I happen to notice that one of the engineers of the Santa Fe #3751 is on that train. I never met the fellow. I only remember his face from the You Tube videos running the #3751. It was just a surprise.

That would be Bob Kittel, CMO for the San Bernardino Railway Historical Society, owner/caretaker of the 3751. It was too warm in California last October so he went to Canada to cool off.

@SDNR199 Are you sure it wasn't Bill Stettler? He was in charge of the CPR steam program for a few years. I understand he did some word with 3751 a while back.

@fabio40 Yes I'm sure. That's JJ "Lucky Man" Morris at the throttle in my video. Bill has run the 3751 several times for Amtrak when it's gone out on mainline excursions,
