@JosesDonkey2112----For safety, when driving on a code 3 run, the emergency vehicle should go by on the left. Reason # 1 is drivers are suppposed to pull to the right side of the road & # 2 it also has to do with visibility. Passing on the left is safer as people can see you better.

i don't understand. I know the car should have pulled to the right, but couldn't you just have gone by on the right?

@JosesDonkey2112 We try not to pass people on the right while driving lights and sirens. The reason why is because if while we are passing you on the right and you realize that you need to move the right at the last second you will end up hitting the ambulance. This places the ambulance at fault for the accident.
