The idea is to destroy attack waves after which bunkers are revealed and people can be rescued. Only difference between attack waves is the number of enemies though there are some other hazards in the game as well. At the end of the level / game? there's a starport where the people can be dropped.

Game loops after the starport. Prior to recording this video I tried to see how many people needs to be rescued before something happens. I rescued somewhere around 70 people before I got bored. In this video I only make two stops to pick up 12 people.

This is a request by RamzesXIIIFPPMZ. Sorry it took such a long time to upload. Music is the highlight in this game, otherwise Blue Max (1983) owns this one.

Coder: Peter Adams (Blue Max / Survivor / Zaxxon)
Musician: David Whittaker

  • I'm surprised noone's remixed this tune.

  • @combatphil David Whittaker actually remade the same tune himself for an Amiga game 'SidWinder'. That version isn't nearly as good though.

  • Love it!!!

  • Loved this game. Good times!

  • @radix9523 It is a cool game. I love the look of isometric graphics (Ultima Online, The Last Ninja series, Zaxxon, etc). I love retro gaming. TO this day, C64 is 1 of my favorite systems. I still play it regularly. (albit via emulator). I am looking for other retro gamers, who'd be interested in playing, online. Many emulators have free "netplay" support, via Kaillera Client. I like MAME, C64, all Atari 8-bit, NES, etc. Let me know if you're interested! :-)

  • @combatphil Jesper Kyd (of Hitman soundtrack fame) made his remix of the song back in 1991 for the Amiga demo known as Hardwired.

  • Wow super flashback! I loved this game as a kid, though I never made it past the "jellybean" ships.

  • The graphics are pre-Nintendo but the music rocks. I use to play it just for the music

  • @combatphil there is a remix. just search for dnl panther here on youtube. it's pretty good, too.

  • nice to hear this old retro track again.

  • @combatphil

    It can't be improved
