The Outdoor GeekGal, Canid-dog, and Gal-pal Sandy S., find themselves spellbound by another incredible sunset over East Bay. In order to preserve public access to the Bay and vistas like this, the County purchased land for a new park and boat ramp, located at the end of Old Ferry Dock Rd. in Eastpoint. It was, as the name suggests, the place where folks waited for the ferry boat across to Apalachicola, until a bridge was finally built in the 1930's. With it's west-facing vantage point overlooking the Bay and the town beyond, this "dock of the Bay" is hard to beat as a viewing spot for October sunsets or Harvest moonrises, even when the clouds appear as they did on this occasion. Head on out there tomorrow evening and get a natural high; listen to the lulling sound of the water lapping against the dock, and watch the show as the Sun kisses our pristine Bay goodnight. It might even make you wanna SING!
