  • @Strega222 Not sure exactly but about 400 mph and they had a W.E.P mode (War emergency power) which gave it a boost to get out of a fight or something but that put ALOT of strain on the engine and you couldn't use it too long.. just realized I'm 2 years late but I wrote this out so.. yeah :D

  • Depends on the altitudes, model of the plane and load out. P-51s are fastest above 10000 feet and the fastest models were the P-51 B or the Cs. The 51 in this video was a D. With low fuel and no ammo a 51's top speed was in the 400s MPH. P-40s on the other hand had no super charger so they would be faster below 10,000 feet. With a low fuel level and no ammo the p-40 N could max out around 380. P-40s might be faster lower then 10000 interestingly enough, a buddy of mine flew the p-40 in the 70s.
