  • doesn't the oxegen go away at 14,000 feet?

  • Yes, starts getting thin enough to worry about at 10,000 plus. Not uncommon to soar to 14000 but not for long, and on your own you could get caught out. Different people are suseptible to different degrees but anyone would be unwise to stay above 12000 for long.

  • Nice this 8-9 was actually a wave lift right?

  • Yes, wave. We regularly get lee wave from the pennines from about 3,500ft up to over 20,000ft occasionally, right over the airfield at Rufforth.

  • Today (21 Feb 09) we were able to climb away from 1500ft a couple of miles from the Airfield at Rufforth. Max height today was 12,500ft.
