Media coverage of Sudan focuses on war-ravaged Darfur. But South Sudan has been nearly invisible. Now three young men return to the villages they fled as small children in a quest to find their families, help their communities and gauge the status of the peace agreement that brought the status of fragile peace in 2005. As featured on Foreign Exchange with Fareed Zakaria.
This report is part of Pulitzer Center-sponsored project "South Sudan: Rebuilding Hope" (http://bit.ly/s2HQIu) by Jen Marlowe and David Morse. Their reporting explores the connections between the conflict in South Sudan and in other parts of Sudan, including Darfur, probing the larger questions of identity and ethnicity. Through video and written pieces, they will attempt to gauge the current state of South Sudan — taking a pulse on the Southern Sudanese people's hopes and fears for the future.
I heard Gabriel Bol Deng speak at the Charles River Rotary Club last week. His story of determination and persistence to overcome the violence in South Sudan was unimaginable for those of us living comfortably in suburban USA. He is still working hard to bring fresh water and education to his village there. If you want to help go to Hope for Ariang.org

Very touching, home is best regardless of the distance or time, and going back home they did after all the years.

Amen, God bless this young man. His heart for is people will be rewarded, because God sees it. If more of us helped, we could change the world. I can't wait until I finish my education, and am able to travel to Africa, and give of my love, my time, and my help.
