I'm so tired of hearing people complain about this new livery! LOOK, they HAD to get a new livery! They couldn't use the shiny planes anymore with their new AIRBUS A318,319,320,321, AND BOEING 787'S. Those planes are not made of aluminum so they wouldn't have that shiny effect to them.  Airbus& the Boeing 787 is made of Composite material! AA had to change its livery to keep the branding the same for all planes. What you should be complaining about is a possible merger with US Airways!

Sorry to say but while I like the colour of the hull, the new titles and logo...i can't stand the tail. It has not movement, is too busy and lacking style. Why not embrace your new logo and wrap it around the tail. Place the eagle head midway up the empennage. The rudder could be white (down through the fuselage) as to represent the wings with the forward half of the tail plane the blue and red (which can also wrap around the bottom of the fuselage.

Love the font used for "American". I do miss the reflective, shiny under-body, but the new livery looks slick.

It's not really that old... it came out in 1990.

I know there are some airlines that still fly the 747 Classic series or have planes that are over 20 years old. Mostly low cost start up airliners.

It is not really that old they were released in 1990 you want something old american and delta still fly md 80 from the early eighties

MD-11 is extremely old now, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines- the last major commercial operator of the type is phasing them out.

Actually, MD-11s are TriJets.

What you are thinking of is its predecessor, the DC-10. The MD-11 is a better, bigger and more advanced aircraft that is newer.

MD-11s are old, they retired those from the fleet in the 90s. American favors twin jets over quad jets.
