I thought I'd try something a little different here.
I composed this rag in 2004, and it's the first of mine for which I created a somewhat hand-played MIDI sequence.
Actually, I played each hand separately, then put the two together (and integrated my pedal use from each track into one pedal track). Unfortunately, I had to quantize the two parts because my rhythm was so off between the two tracks. I'm not a good pianist, so I can't play this for real, but this gives you a good sense of how the rag goes.
It's played straight (well, I syncopated the ending of the B strain), but certainly there are embellishments I hear in my head that can be done, and of course Andrew Barrett does some amazing harmonic embellishment to this rag which can be seen in another video.
The piano sound here is a high-quality piano sound set -- more than 1 GB worth of samples (larger than SoundFonts can be) -- with added room reverb and a wood resonance filter to make it sound more "live".
Great performance ! Congratulations !
