This is a most beautifully sung Waltz called Voices of Spring by Strauss. Battle looks absolutely gorgeous and her voice in this aria is to die for. It is almost perfection. I was stunned when I first saw the clip and listened to it. Hence it is posted here for you to enjoy. She is one of my favourite bel canto sopranos despite all her problems with the Met in New York. Who could resist her?? Karajan certainly could not. Buy the DVD it is absolutely wonderful..you will never regret it.

Has anyone ever sang one song with an absolute perfection like she did here? I did not know it was possible to sing these notes, and I've heard many sopranos sing "The Queen of the Night" which is also hard to do. But this, and Battle: unbeliavable!!! It was like a bird singing! BEAUTIFUL!!! And it didn't hurt that she looked spectacular as well...I've been watching New Years concerts from Vienna most of my life but nothing impressed me more than this EVER!

Shows not only what a spectacular soprano Kathleen Battle was in her prime but also what an astonishing accompanist Karajan was--singers loved him.
