Check out my blog! http://tanenbaumed.blogspot.com/ WARNING: extremely sarcastic material within.

The Surfin' Bird (Forty-two Years Later)

The Trashmen's Surfin' Bird (1963) was an ode to Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.

---------
My original 2006 note on this video that I still feels applies today:

Why do our reporters hold back? Should this footage be readily available? Why does CNN think kicking in doors is good video reporting? The Army doesn't need to censor reporters, the reporters are already censored; self-censorship or maybe the broadcasters feel viewers can't handle strong images... I find the journalistic environment troubling. Regardless of politics, Americans support the war, voluntarily or involuntarily through tax dollars, and consequently we need to see reality. We don't. I think that's a crime within itself. All the rest is commentary.

  • Are you trying to compare Vietnam with OIF?..smh

  • @thornie123 Trying would imply an obstacle, answer which war am I describing: sold to the public under false pretenses, never officially declared war, public and soldiers enter with high hopes and good intentions end up in a quagmire, fighting an insurgent enemy, war crimes and attempted coverup, results in a civil war in the nation, leaves our soldiers suffering with PTSD. Maybe if we started paying attentions to patterns, we would avoid these senseless wastes of life.

  • God Bless the ones who served not the SOB's that get us in these messes.

  • @JudeRambo for who's illness? the Iraqis?

  • War is complimented with criticism. Good or bad, wrong or right, mandated or just, war never changes. You can't always blame Americans for your illnesses.

  • music doesnt fit video. fail is the word....

and all your political opinions are wrong. no matter which side you're on.

if you look at another human with contempt, you are the fail bird !!!!

and your war is fail. as is your peace.

  • @techcafe yes and the self genocide and normal violence before was much better

  • @jonah232 Alright well let's be grown bout this and agree to disagree? You do your thing I'll do mine.I believe what I want and you believe what you want.

  • ...for your country doesn't make you any more or less of an American than anyone else

  • I am by no means a political guru, nor do I pretend/want to be. I have respect for the men and women that defend our country, but I ask this: to those that join, especially those with the intent of fighting on the front lines - what in the hell else did you expect? There is no draft, if you don't want to fight, don't join. Those soldiers knew what they were getting themselves into. WWI & II clearly happened, and if history has taught us anything, it would be that it repeats itself... fighting-
