The reward for Area 5 is the rocket launcher. This thing is way more deadly than in the NES version, as the blast can kill you, so stay far away. Head back to Area 5 to get the Yashichi [3/12]. Head to the Sewer Station in Area 2 before heading to Area 6. First, fall down the hole on the right to get to the Yashichi [4/12]. This level is full of slimes that will cart you away if you step in them. Use your arm to get away. At the top, enter the comms room.

The jump in area 5 is easier to make if you don't grab the very end of the ledge. If you give yourself some room to swing, the momentum actually takes you a bit further.
