A loooong slooow Autorack train led by NS D9-40CW 9279 and NS SD70M 2614 heads south (railroad west) on the ex CCC&STL (Big 4),recently Conrail, now Norfolk Southern Railway. This route is used by CSX and NS southbound from Hamilton, Ohio to Cincinnati. The ex B&O railroad about 1 mile west in Wyoming, Ohio is the northbound route for CSX and NS. The directional running has eased numerous traffic jams both railroads had been experiencing. They get a double track main in each direction for the most part. Amtrak and Indianapolis subdivision trains are among the few exceptions to this rule. Lockland is named after the Miami and Erie canal that the railroads replaced. Many locks for the final descent to the Ohio river gave this town it's name.

  • Nice video, I stopped by there a few weeks ago. All the buildings on the west side of the tracks are gone now. That area is under construction now.

  • Those autracks cars are really in great use. I wonder how do they load the vehicles in the cars?

  • Yah i have seen that video you were talking about a million times and I am only 12 so haven't put some videos of lockland but I am goin to get this year for Christmas. NScorpldy (I think thats how you spell his youtube name) but anyway he puts videos from lockland too.

  • Yeah......twice, once in 2004 with a CSX engine and lastly in 2006. It was in the middle of 2 Norfolk Southern engines. There are still some old one's around not being used that haven't been repainted and also the B&O museum is restoring some and putting them back on the rails for show, not service. There's a video of the one I saw in 2004 and 2006 on here. It's entitled Chessie System RCPH-4 (ex-GP40) 9121, 2005. It won't let me post a video link, just look for it with that description

  • You saw a Chessie engine there once??

  • I go there all of the time to see the trains

  • y did u dp this

  • Yeah, It wasn't a photo, it was a video on here that I saw it sitting in a yard. 9121 is the number of that one

  • Hmm, because they're all repainted now.

  • Yep, It's marked as CSXT 9221. It's been a couple of years since I've seen it but I saw a photo of it in action in the spring of last year so it's still trucking along.
