President Barack Obama unveiled a multitrillion-dollar spending plan that would boost the deficit to a record-breaking $1.56 trillion. AP's Mark Smith reports. (Feb. 1)
"What have they done with President Obama? What happened to the inspirational figure his supporters thought they elected? Who is this bland, timid guy who doesn’t seem to stand for anything in particular?" --Paul Krugman, New York Times, April 10, 2011
Medicare's unfunded liability (excluding Medicare Advantage) is $74 trillion -- five times that of Social Security.
Obama's level of spending and his expansion of the federal govt is turning into a crisis. This is the first time in American history that a generation is leaving the country worse off to to the next generation than how they inherited it.
Just because Bush's spending in his last two years went out of control doesn't mean Obama should do it too.
Obama's rationale for his tax increases are to increase spending, not lowering his huge budget deficits. Clearly the intended purpose is not to reduce the deficit, but to pay for more spending. He needs to do the opposite, shrink the size of government and cut back on his mentally deranged spending.
Democrats need to held accountable for voting along with Obama's policies. Particularly those who support Obamas keystone issues of healthcare and climate change.
Obama's policies? And the reason why we're in this position is because of who - Obama?? Dick Cheney, that said debt doesn't matter is off the hook, Ha? And that moron Republican - what's his name, McConnell, that said they passed a 600 billion dollar UNFUNDED drug bill because that's the way we were doing things back then, that's okay too? Now that the whole country is out of work you want Obama to sit back and do nothing so we can all be on the bread-line? You need to wake up.
