An overview/update of my home HO scale model railroad. As you can see, nothing fancy, just a mess of random stuff & in-work items. The control system i'm using is Digitrax LocoNet. Specifically the DSC-50 (a.k.a. Zephyr) and I set up a UR90 (Infrared Receiver) for wireless control as well as a UP5 for easy access. The throttle I'm using is a Digitrax DT400R which is essentially like a fancy, $200 remote for model trains with a decoder.

  • hey how much did u pay for the wireless add on for the zepher and how much for the throtle ? i am curantly using the zepher and would like to get wireless

  • @coops8291 the throttle i have is actually no longer in production but that's good news for you because they now make better ones at the same price ($200). The only additional thing you'll need is a UR-90 ($45) which is an infared receiver(s) meaning you have to be in a direct line of sight with the receiver(s) to operate in wireless mode. However if you do so wish, you can take it a step further with a UR-91 ($149) or UR-92. [Cont'd below]

  • @coops8291 [cont'd] the difference between the UR-90 and the -91 & -92 is that the -91 & -92 have the ability to transmit and receive radio signals rather than infared, meaning you can be within hundreds of feet of the receiver, and not necessarily in line of sight with it (thus, the extra price, but worth it, in my opinion.) Hope this helps!

  • cool video! anyway you can show how you wired everything? i just use the zephyr alone. but im looking at purchasing a DT402 and a UP90. how hard is it to wire?

  • Yeah I'll make another video showing how its wired. I did some new stuff so I'll show that too. I'm also going to get a BD4 so I may or may not wait to put that in the update. You know what I'll just make another one later.

  • That's what i mean. If its nothing special, then y not come down this sunday so that u don't miss anything special in other sundays.

  • @kylecascadden Well, there's nothing special going on this Sunday (just normal Sunday Public Hauling, that's all), so I can probably come over at around 5:00 pm from LALS and stay until like 6:00 pm or so. I dunno, I'm gonna keep the end time tentative, but I'm pretty sure I'm leaving LALS at around 4:00 or 5:00 pm.

  • Yeah you should come to LAMRS this Sunday....its nothing special at LALS this weekend is it?

  • K

  • @kylecascadden Yeah, I know. I'm just yanking your chain. That's cool about the quad block detection circuit!
