Topics covered: Pluto had to go, Tyson got Cameron to change the star-field in Titanic, science is wonderful, there's no impending apocalypse in 2012, etc, etc.

Stephen Colbert is a smart science fan and often features great science book authors and scientists on his show, The Colbert Report. I also appreciate his funny takes on scientific topics such as tissue engineered meat, the LHC and more!

Astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson has appeared on The Colbert Report six times. What a boon for the world of science that Colbert is willing to feature science and science personalities who will make science seem enjoyable for the general public.

Stephen Colbert, out of character from his show, interviews Dr. Tyson at the Kimberley Academy in Montclair, New Jersey.

  • Whenever I am so depressed about what the media is taking about on any given day, I turn to this video and am calmed. Calmed by NDT. Thank you for uploading this.

  • @MsPinecone123 Your comment is why I haven't owned a TV for many years now. It's full of corporate biased propaganda, with what I believe the evidence shows, an intent to control and limit peoples thinking.

Certainly glad you enjoy the video so much!

    :c) Take care... Anthony

  • @4micaman I do own television for I know what to watch on TV and what not to watch. Fallowing your logic we should not eat food sold in supermarkets for it comes from big corporations.

  • @JurasicMan Do you now? LOL - We even worded the reply to MsPinecone123 in a way so that anyone with two brain cells to rub together would note our stating an opinion - not a fact! LOL

As a bonus; we care not what you eat nor watch. It's your body and mind. Drink plenty of BGH Milk now... ya hear?

    Have a great day... :c)

  • Thanks for uploading this!

It's nice to see a more recent talk done by Neil :)

  • @staggerbag I'm grateful you too, enjoyed it. Really, few things compare to hearing Neil talk about his passion... passionately!

  • E=mc² doesn't happen in our everyday life?

Just get in your car and drive. The added kinetic energy makes you and your car heavier (m=E/c²). Because c² (c= speed of light) is a fairly big number the added mass is really tiny.

The effect is only significant on high energy levels but it happens all the time and everywhere.

  • Much respect to Colbert and Stewart for giving the science buffs a lot of press. Its sad that the MSM focuses more on some starlets torn skirt for like 6 hours or a politicians latest dalliance rather then giving us news we can use to make informed decisions, or science that we can marvel at theis INCREDIBLE universe. We need many more Colberts, Setwarts, Tysons, and Kakus. Thank you for uploading and much respect to these men too.

  • wow, fab vid, thanks.

  • Hilarious! what makes you smile : ) smart , funny and REAL!

  • this is such a fantastic interview. neil degrasse tyson is an awesome crusader for science! a true contemporary of carl sagan & so many other amazing minds who came before him!

    :)

  • This is over an hour long?! *sigh* Hold on...let me pop some popcorn, get my cherry coke and I'll be right back...
