I'd say Sun Ra had a few more than just two creative periods! Before 76, he'd already been a major force in big band jazz, barbershop, free jazz, a solo synth pioneer, as well as working with John Cage, and inspiring Coltrane, the MC5, the Black Panthers and countless others! The man was and is a legend. SO MUCH great music!
