HYPOCRITICAL!!! Drew says she said "no" to drugs in the show, but in reality, she was doing drugs around the same time.

@elenwashere No this is really 1989... Gaby Hoffman(the smallest girl) was 7 years old(born March 1982)... Drew Barrymore was born in March 1975 so she was 14... she only looks older because of the 80s style, its the shoulder pads.. if you read their bio's on imdb it says they were on this show in 1989

Who would have thought that Drew would have her own problems with drugs and alcohol? I mean considering how fucked up her family dynamics was?

@pistolkrystle if you watch 15 and getting straight you will see her as a 14 year old. In Far from home as a 13 year old. Her face is different so I would say this was made in maybe late 1987 when she was 12

@foxyroxytm Agreed. I'm no fan of Jaid Barrymore, but at least SHE wasn't a drunken, physically abusive lout like Drew's dad. It simultaneously breaks my heart & pisses me off to read of the time John D Barrymore came home (apparently to beat up Jaid), and little 3-year-old Drew enthusiastically called out "Daddy!", only to be picked up & hurled into the wall by her drunken violent asshole of a father! Yrs later Drew was gracious enough to give him a home & pay his medical bills until he died.

Have you guys even read her autobiography? I'm reading a lot of comments on how horrible her mother was and she was the reason that she started using, but how come no one is mentioning her father? He was an abusive, drunk fuck up and he screwed up Drew more than her mother ever could, but her mom got all the blame because she was the only one around.

Actually, I just found an interview with Gaby Hoffman online which says that it was 1989/Drew was 13, and I am going to believe that one. This video said both 1987 in one place, and 1989 in another, but obviously you are right, it was 1989.
