Chomsky explains who U.S. leaders work for and what they have done.
NOAM CHOMSKY: Strategic reasons. I mean, economic and strategic, which are impossible to distinguish. But since the Second World War, I'll quote the State Department, the Middle East oil producing regions have been regarded, I'll quote the words, "a stupendous source of strategic power." George Kennan, State Department, head of the planning section said control, not access, control over the Middle East oil gives us "veto power" over what our rivals might do, other industrial powers. You control the spigot, have your hand on the spigot, you have a lot of world control. It's not even access to oil. The first, roughly, 30 years after the Second World War, the U.S. was - North America was the major oil producer. It wasn't using Middle East oil, never the less we had to keep an iron hand of control on Middle East oil and if the U.S. were to go to solar energy, they'd still want to control Middle East oil because that's a lever of world control. Everyone understands it but we're not allowed to think about it.
The Killing Didn't End With Hiroshima and Nagasaki
http://representativepress.blogspot.com/2005/11/killing-didnt-end-with-hirosh... Before U.S. officials dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they fire bombed Japanese cities. But what few people know is that AFTER the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, U.S. officials carried out even more fire bombing of several Japanese cities.
Incredibly, there was a "1000-plane raid five days after Nagasaki on what remained of major Japanese cities, a triumph of military management skills designed to be "as big a finale as possible," the official Air Force history relates; even Stormin' Norman would have been impressed. Thousands of civilians were killed, while amidst the bombs, leaflets fluttered down proclaiming: "Your Government has surrendered. The war is over." General Spaatz wanted to use the third atom bomb on Tokyo for this grand finale, but concluded that further devastation of the "battered city" would not make the intended point. Tokyo had been removed from the first list of targets for the same reason: it was "practically rubble," analysts determined, so that the power of the bomb would not be adequately revealed. The final 1000-plane raid was therefore dispersed to seven targets, the Air Force history adds." p 238 Year 501 Noam Chomsky http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0896084442/ref=nosim/representativ-20
I just read the ongoing argument in this thread about whose fault is it, anyway? It's time to put away these childish insults and focus on the fact that we have a serious situation at hand, that could change the lives of most of us in the world forever, and it will be ugly. Considering the absolute despair, let's start with a clean slate. Put the paste behind us, and concentrate on humantarian issues like God would prefer. Stop everything. Shut up. And get to work. That's my advice.

War seems to have these goals: Decrease the population of your target, destroy their infrastructure and military (send them back to the stone age), and place an occupation, military base on teh conquered land and gain access with attractive terms to the opposition's resources. The collateral benefits are the wealth created by arms sales, as well as raising oil prices (war uses so much oil that if there were no wars, oil supply would double - just an estimate) so the investors and banks cash in.

@JivemasterJ - If you put preconditions for negotiation than you force the other side to accept for granted your terms. Israel is ready to negotiate without any precondition anywhere and any time.

@JivemasterJ - Another lie! The Palestinians didn't want to negotiate but put preconditions
1. Stopping the construction in the settlements
2. Stop og the naval blocade on Gaza.
Israel stopped the construction works for 9 month in order to see if they are serious but they didn't come to negotiate until the last week before the obligation ended with a new demand of continuing the interval. Abu Mazen doesn't want peace because he afraid that his end will be of Anwar Saadat.

@budapest509 - That was really an educated answer!

@stupidseducator It's the israeli's who have been resisting negotiations with palestinians, not the other way around

@1michaelchrisman - Can you be more specific and explain what do you mean?
stupidseducator 1 day ago
@JivemasterJ - And what about the crimes of muslims perpetrating among themselves? Write in Google "Hamas Kill Fatah in Gaza" or in YouTube "Assad Kills Syrian People". About those crimes Chomsky the big human rights defender didn't say a single word.

Must be nice to commit whatever crimes you want and when confronted about them simply call your accusers anti semitic and walk away.
