AANINVER Episode 2 Synopsis
One of the earliest stone temple structures depicting Hindu iconography in South East Asia can be found in the Dieng plateau in Indonesia. . The temple structures resemble the temples at Mahabalipuram in South India and indicate a possible cultural exchange dating back to the 7th century. It is believed that these temples are dedicated to the Pandava warriors Arjuna, Yudhistira, Bhima, Ghatotkaca as well as a temple each to Arjunas wives Srikandi and Subadhra. A little further away, on a hill top is a temple dedicated to Krishna. Many of the statues that perhaps belonged to these temples can be found at the Kailasa Museum. It is fascinating to discover the way these temples were built without any cement, by interlocking stones. As we climb down the beautiful mountain slopes we come across the Telaga Warna Lake that changes colours according to the rays of the sun and is believed to have healing properties because of its sulphur deposits. AANIVER takes you on a journey to discover these hidden delights that tell stories of a bygone era.
