Granular Synthesis

This video is an experimental autobiography documenting the first six years of my life through abstract images. The audio processes of Granular Synthesis was adopted for video in the process of editing this piece, producing a distinct separation between myself in the present and myself in the past. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm aware of that...the title of the video is a referrence to the techinques I used to edit the piece as well as compose the music.

It's tagged "experimental" but is it? I'm afraid abstract montages set to ambient drones is no longer envelope pushing. Thats what happens when you set out to create something experimental by taking on the external trappings of experimental cinema without the core motivation to reinvent your art. Still, it's not a bad video, and many of the shots are clever and show promise. Can't give it 5 stars though... to "art school" :-P

Don't play what's there. Play whats not there! Space is the place.

@AEFic there are a few different techniques to granular synthesis. You can use grains to create drones like this. even pad sounds. pitch synchronous granular synthesis, look it up.

@Submangalam : the use of wrong words knowing what they mean is bigest error. You have a real problem : "sound synthesis" can't be a concept : it's a real thing. Not just an idea !!! "Dog" and "cat" are them just ideas ??? You, crazy dreamer, say "I say this dog it's a cat, but this is a concept" ! And the one who say "It's not a cat" is "thinking of himself by autority" ??? On the net there is always some crazy man to say "2+2=5", or "Earth is the center of universe". Poor man !!!

@tvnp4 im talking about seeing an abstraction, and audiovisual idea, and a bunch of bigheads talking about "synthesis", "korgs", and thinking of himselfs like authoritys. Of course i kwnow what granular synthesis is, and you know? I DONT CARE what is because i read between lines and see creativity, value and risk in someone putting his idea in a video and share it with the world. When you call it "stupid video", your really mean "i feel better than this" and is purely lack of security in urself

@Submangalam : if the word "concept" is used to define anything with wrong words (this job is NOT granular synthesis !!!), everybody can use any word to say anything about everything !!!!! How ? Because "it's a concept". Ahaha, very funny ! So, now, averybody can burn all the dictionnaries because they don't have utility ! Sorry, but "granular synthesis" is a particular sound technology, not a sweet dream !!! Don't speak about that you don't know !
