Dark Star Orchestra interview part 3 at the Oriental Theater in Denver, CO on 10-20-07. The guys talk about the misconceptions about the band and Rob Barraco talks about the differences of playing in DSO opposed to his playing days in The Dead and Phil & Friends.

@jrogers71 stop trolling you hater and just enjoy the music. why even watch an interview and comment on something if all you have to say is shit. dark star brings way more energy than Furthur nowadays and old and new heads agree. stop bringing your negative vibes here

Great Interview.right now between Furthur and Dark Star Orchestra we have some great shows coming our way....It is a blast from the past seeing DSO. The are playing 60's shows, I was lucky enough to see one and it blew me away, very different from what I ever experience. There was a time I would only see the Grateful Dead and everything else was unacceptable. I have opened my mind and am enjoying all kinds of music these days but Furthur, DSO and Melvin Seals and JGB are my favorites these days.

Everyone has so much emotion when we talk about post-Jerry incarnation bands. I am too young to be a part of what was. I want to be a part of what is now and what is to become. It will never be the same, however the spirit that is in the music and at shows continue on. I was not able to see a live Dead show. I am very grateful to be a part of what those who truly love what they are doing create. You can tell in a person's eyes their intentions, and these guys intentions are good.

@jrogers71 I disagree. The post-Jerry incarnations were far from inspiring.....and (aside from Rat Dog) were also trying to "re-create Monet" to poor effect. You can't remove the single biggest ingredient of the song writing recipe (Jerry) and expect it to sound anything remotely close. And it's no accident that the most classic and beloved Dead songs were those written by Garcia/Hunter. All one has to do is listen to Bob butcher Jerry's songs with Further to understand what's said here.

Rob spends most of the "DSO" interview remembering the great times with "The Dead" which is a testament to Bobby Phil Mickey and Billy. DSO reminds me of every other tribute band. They do a great copy of the original.

I can't believe these dweebs have anything to say about Phil and Friends or Ratdog, If you see them and don't get that they are truly carrying on and playing the true Grateful Dead music then you never got it. If an artist reproduces a Monet, no matter how close they get, it ain't Monet and doesn't carry the same weight.
