Whew! That kind of takes a load off my chest (no pun intended). I've been coughing up white/clear sputum for a couple of weeks, but there is no blood, and no pain. I am a heavy chewing tobacco user (one time smoker), but haven't smoked in 8 years or more. Today i've been extremely light headed. It scares the hell out of me that it might be cancer. I do have a feeling of not being able to get enough air, but i also had a pulmonary embolism last november, and have had that symptom since.
Greetings! I don't use tobacco, but had a pulmonary embolism in the spring. Been treated w/Coumadin. Did or do you take coumadin/ Do you have any chest "pain" - like a finger poking you? Have you had a CT Scan to see if clot is gone? All the best & Take Care!
I'll be on coumadin for life because of a genetic disorder. And no pain, blood, etc.. But i never had any pain to begin with (even with the P.E.). My last time i was in the ER was because of that feeling of not being able to get enough air, they did a chest x-ray, and CT scan, both showed a marked improvement. My primary has scheduled a pulmonary function test. Thanks, and you too!
Chewing tobacco causes mouth, throat and stomach cancer. If it's mouth and throat you might catch it early. Stomach cancer happens over time. My Grandpa died from stomach cancer from smoking a pipe. Chewing Tobacco is 100 times worse - totally cancer causing. Even young people can get cancer from chewing Tobacco - that means 17 year olds or whatever. Go and find info about it. Lung cancer might be the worst one you are most likely to die from but stomach cancer is also difficult to detect.
I'm positive now that it was just an infection. Went and saw my doctor, he wasn't worried about cancer (given my symptoms). I got real sick for a few days, spent most of the time hacking up stuff, the sputum turned from white to green. But now i feel like a million bucks. I'm still quitting though! I've know more than my fair share of people who've died from cancer (my grandpa, a good friend, my best friend's dad). And it's NOT something i want to go through!
