If they mixed dye with the water in the water-cannons... it would make rioters easier to identify and possibly make them think twice about rioting in the first place.

We have a tendency to criticize our police when sitting in our warm and safe lounges watching these scenes as they take place. The police are always made out to be the villains when a rioter gets hurt. Our politicians needs to stand up to the plate, they always criticise the police one way or the other.
