Never Say Goodbye [Episode 5 PART 2]: You Don't Remember Me?

Demi: *slowly opens her eyes and looks around, expecting to be dead; her eyes are still watery with fear* Selena? *murmurs* Are we dead?
Selena: *is laying beside her, but doesn't move*
Demi: Selena?
Selena: *mutters* What do you want, Demi? *rolls over*
Demi: Are we dead?
Selena: *glances around*
Demi: Didn't we just get hit by a car?
Selena: I thought so...
Demi: Then why are we lying on the grass?
Selena: *shrugs* I don't care as long as I'm not dead.
Demi: *suddenly realizes something, her eyes widen* Oh my god.
Selena: What?
Demi: *gets up quickly and looks around*
Selena: Demi, what is it? *stands up and dusts herself off*
Demi: *shrieks* Joe! Nick!
Selena: What about Joe and Nick?
Demi: They're... they're... *points*
Selena: *mouth drops open* Oh crap.
Demi: Come on! *grabs her arm and drags her to the other side of the street*

Lying there is Nick and Joe, both of their eyes closed, and not moving.

Demi: Joe! Nick! *kneels down beside both of them*
Selena: Did they... save us? *worried; sits beside Nick*
Demi: Oh shut up Selena! We have a real problem here! They could be... *gulps*
Selena: Don't finish that sentence, please.
Demi: *starts to panic; feels for Joe's pulse* Oh thank god! *lets out a sigh of relief*
Selena: *does the same to Nick but doesn't feel anything* Demi! Nick! *eyes wide with fear*
Demi: What's wrong, Sel?
Selena: Here! *throws his arm at her* He has no pulse!
Demi: *takes his arm but doesn't feel anything either*
Selena: Nick, why did you save us?! *practically screams at him*
Demi: Calm down, Selena.
Selena: Oh gosh Demi stop pretending to be okay! He could be DEAD right now!
Demi: Don't say that!
Selena: But what if it's... true? *slumps onto Nick and starts to cry*

At that moment, Joe chooses to whip his head over and look at them.

Joe: Wha-what happened? *sits up slowly and murmurs a slight cry of pain*
Demi: Joe! *hugs him*
Joe: Ow, that hurt.
Demi: Oh, I'm sorry!
Joe: It's fine. Why is Selena crying? *confused*
Selena: *lifts her head up* You're brother might be... *lets a tear roll down her cheek*
Joe: What?! *looks over at Nick who's lying there peacefully*
Demi: It's true. *glances at both of them sadly, then starts crying herself*
Joe: We have to get him to the hospital! We can't just sit here and let him die! *tries to get up but howls in pain*
Demi: *holds him down* The closest hospital is six miles away. We would never make it in time!
Selena: *whispers so that only Nick could hear* I'm sorry, Nick. I wish I got to know you better. *stares at his pale face and accidently lets a few tears fall onto him*
Demi: *buries her face into Joe's chest and cries*
Joe: *just stares down at Nick like he couldn't believe his little brother might be dead*

Like some miracle, Nick's hands shook slightly, but the rest of his body ached horribly. He was all cut up, which you couldn't see that well with only a streetlight shining down on the four of them. Evidently, he got the worse impact.

Selena: *stares at him in shock*
Demi: *is holding onto Joe tightly*
Joe: *is trying to comfort Demi*
Selena: Nick?
Joe: Did something happen?
Selena: Yeah he moved... *leans her head down to hear his heartbeat* It's there! Oh my god!
Demi: Talk about a miracle. *wipes her eyes*

Nick's eyes fluttered open and he looked around at everyone.

Selena: Nick! *wraps him up in a joyful hug*
Nick: *pulls away* Who are you?
Selena: *startled* I'm Selena. Don't you remember?
Nick: No...
Selena: Oh. Ok then. *stares down at the ground; disappointed*
Joe: Hey Nick.
Nick: Joe, is that you?
Joe: Yeah, that's me. *smiles softly*
Nick: Where am I?
Demi: Well you and Joe saved me and Selena from being hit by a car...
Nick: *glances at Demi* You're that girl I worked with, right?
Demi: Yeah... Demi.
Nick: Oh right! Demi! Nice to see you again! *grins wide*
Demi: Um, likewise. *smiles and hugs him gently*
Nick: Where did that Selena girl go?
Selena: *meekly* I'm right here behind you.
Nick: Oh, hi!
Selena: Hey...
Demi: I think we should get him to the doctor.
Selena: And how are we supposed to get there? We have two injured guys who can probably not walk, we surely couldn't lift them up and carry them for six miles, no one here can drive, and besides we don't have a car!
Demi: Wellllll... *smiles slyly*
Selena: Oh Demi we are so not gonna do that.

Five minutes later, Demi and Selena were helping Nick and Joe into the backseat of Demi's mom's car. Once they were situated, Selena got into the passenger seat and Demi got into the driver's side.

Selena: I can't believe you talked me into this.
Demi: Oh just trust me! I know what I'm doing.
Selena: You better.
Demi: *rolls her eyes and starts up the car* Ok, Demi, you can do this. *takes a deep breath*
